Winter storm continues

A winter storm continues to affect Illinois Tuesday. Much of Illinois is receiving rain, which will bring down snow totals, but most of the precipitation will change over to snow during the course of the day.

Snow totals vary from 1-3 inches in east-central Illinois to around 10 inches near the Quad Cities. Numerous school districts in northern Illinois have called off classes Tuesday. Hundreds of migrants were expected to wait out the storm inside Chicago Transit Authority Buses downtown.

Radio chain declares bankruptcy

The nation’s second largest radio chain with stations in Illinois has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Audacy, which owns 225 stations, including WBBM in Chicago, blamed a “perfect storm” of pandemic headwinds, revenue declines and mounting debt as the need for financial restructuring.

Nationwide, revenues fell nearly $5 million last year to $7.7 billion. Company officials said radio stations will operate normally during the bankruptcy process.

Man released without bond allegedly steals second car

A Herrick man who police said stole a vehicle and was released under Illinois’ Pretrial Fairness Act is accused of immediately stealing another vehicle outside the jail.

During the investigation, it was learned Austin had been arrested by police the night before for stealing a vehicle. He was processed, issued a citation and released, then allegedly stole the Camaro.
