Barbara Bale Reis
1930-2025

Barbara Bale Reis passed away at age 94 on Friday, January 24, 2025. Her four children were at her bedside.

Barb was born on November 29, 1930 in Fort Dodge, Iowa to Kathryn Greenwell Bale and Carl Richards Bale. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Dick Bale and her husband James Keller Reis from whom she was divorced in 1970. She passed away at Epworth Hospice in Oklahoma City, OK.

She is survived by her daughter Catherine Reis Null and Ned Null of Blandinsville, IL; her granddaughters Clair Null and husband Philip Johnson of Washington DC; Hadley Null and her partner Zach Pittman of Washington DC; and Sydney Null and husband Grant Rogers of Blandinsville, IL; her great grandchildren Nohl and Calla Johnullson and Buck and Stevie Null; her son Marty Reis of Oklahoma City; her son Chuck Reis and his wife Kathy Richard Reis and her grandsons Carl Reis and Chad Reis of San Antonio TX; her daughter Jaimee Reis Zorio and husband Chuck Zorio of Oklahoma City, OK and granddaughter Dr. Onilia Zorio-Anderson and husband Evan Anderson of Scottsdale, AZ.

Barb was raised in Iowa and Illinois moving to Macomb IL in 1941. She attended Macomb High School and graduated from Western Laboratory School in 1948. She moved her family 21 times during her marriage because of transfers in Jim's employment until her final move after divorce to Ocala, FL in 1974. Barb became a true Floridian at heart. She developed many friendships over the years in Silver Springs Shores, Ocala, and the surrounding area. She made one final move to Epworth Assisted Living in Oklahoma City, OK in 2022.

Barb was incredibly creative and artistic. She made every home she lived in a lovely space mostly on a limited budget. She made her own curtains and drapes, upholstered furniture, and painted furniture. She was decorator on a budget long before there was a TV show. She was a master at transforming the "stuff" of life.

Although Barb spent her married years as a stay-at-home mom, after her divorce she went to work. She worked at Rich's Department Store in Atlanta, GA. She managed Scott's Annex in Macomb, IL. She loved working retail at Henkle's Clothing Store in Macomb, IL. After her move to Florida, she was the office manager at Nationwide Insurance Ocala, FL. She did radio advertising in Ocala, FL. And she did retail sales at Papagallo's in Ocala FL. She will be deeply missed by her large and loving family.

Private family grave side services will be held at Oakwood Cemetery at a later date,
