    Very cold wind chills around 20 below.
    WHERE
    Portions of north central and northwest Illinois and east central, northeast, and southeast Iowa.
    WHEN
    Until 2 AM CST Wednesday.
    IMPACTS
    The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 20 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 20 to 30 minutes. Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin is exposed to these temperatures.
    PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
    Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves. Keep pets indoors as much as possible. Make sure outdoor animals have a warm, dry shelter, food, and unfrozen water. Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills inside.

Donna R. McMahon
1932-2024

Donna R. McMahon, age 92, passed away on December 16, 2024. Donna was born at home on November 4, 1932, in Waverly, IL to James Leslie and Opal Stewart Thomas.  Her mother died when she was two years old.  She was raised by her father and stepmother Mary Matthews Thomas.  In 1950, Donna married Adron McMahon in Waverly, IL; they had 57 years together until his death in 2007.  Their family moved to Macomb, IL in 1964.

Donna is survived by her children Daniel (Patricia), Robert (Sue), William (Mary), Beverly Adams, and James (Heidi), 12 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and niece, Jeanne Thomas Codrey.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant son Richard, and half brother and sister-in-law, James L. and Barbara Thomas.  She was a member of Macomb First Baptist Church.  She retired from Macomb School District where she served as school secretary first at Lincoln Elementary and then at MacArthur Kindergarten Center. Private burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Macomb, Illinois.  A Celebration of Life is being planned in 2025.
