    EFFECTIVE
    This Friday night and Saturday morning from 640 PM until 200 AM CDT.
    THREATS
    Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible, Isolated large hail events to 1.5 inches in diameter possible, A tornado or two possible
    SITUATION
    A cluster of thunderstorms should pose a threat for mainly scattered severe/damaging winds as it tracks east-southeastward this evening into early Saturday morning. Peak gusts may reach up to 60-70 mph. Isolated hail and perhaps a brief tornado or two may also occur with any cells that can move along/near a boundary. The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 55 statute miles north and south of a line from 40 miles west northwest of Moline IL to Valparaiso IN.     PRECAUTIONS
    A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area. Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce tornadoes.

Lesa Kay Hayden-Griffin
1965 - 2026

Kewanee - Lesa Kay Hayden-Griffin, 61, of Kewanee, passed away Friday, May 15, 2026, at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington, IL. She was born on January 11, 1965, the daughter of Sharon (Price) and Ron Larson in Kewanee. She graduated from Kewanee High School in 1983.

Lesa is survived by her parents; bonus sisters, Michele (Paul) Rispoli of Las Vegas, NV and Amy (John) Novak of Las Vegas NV; granddaughter, Jordyn Hollins; special friends, Kyle Hollins of Kewanee and Patrick Peach of Kewanee; her dog, Envy. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Wayne and Elaine Price; and son, Jimmy Hollins.

In her high school years, Lesa worked as a camp counselor at Camp CILCA in Cantrall, IL. She graduated from Concordia University, Nebraska in Seward, NE with her teaching degree in 1987. Lesa worked for APAC Teleservices, as assistant manager of Payday Loans and Title Loans, and as a manager at the Shamrock Bar in Kewanee. She enjoyed traveling as much as she could and going with her family on cruises to beautiful places. She cherished time spent with her family. Lesa was a member of a pool league and enjoyed shooting pool with her friends.

Visitation will be from 1:00 – 3:00 pm, Sunday, May 24, 2026, at Golnick Family Funeral & Cremation Services in Kewanee, with the funeral following at 3:00 pm. Pastor Linnea Gustafson will officiate. Burial will be 1:00 pm, Tuesday, May 26, 2026 in Pleasant View Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hog Capital Wildlife Rescue and Rehab or Faith Lutheran Church.
