Marilyn R. Jones, 90, of rural Galva, died Friday, March 8, 2024, at her home.
She was born October 3, 1933, in Galesburg, the daughter of Ralph and Helen (Miles) Chatterton. She married James W. Jones on December 17, 1954, in Stark County. He preceded her in death on December 22, she was also preceded in death by her parents, two sons, John and Dan, a grandson Chase Ripka and two sisters, Margaret and Madelyn. Survivors include her daughter, Rebecca “Becky” Ripka, of Galva, daughter-in-law, Susan Jones of Burlington, IA and two grandchildren, Dalton Jones and Jennifer Jones.
Marilyn graduated from Galva High School in 1951. In earlier years, she had worked as a bookkeeper at the First National Bank in Galva and then as a bartender at Midland Country Club for almost 30 years. She had been a member of the Congregational Church of Galva and she had enjoyed playing bridge, golfing, shopping, and traveling.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, March 13,2024 at Rux Funeral Home, Galva. Rev. Marshall Jones will officiate. The visitation will be one hour prior to the service. The burial will be in the Galva Cemetery. Memorials can be sent to the Galva Public Library.
