    Very cold wind chills around 20 below.
    WHERE
    Portions of north central and northwest Illinois and east central, northeast, and southeast Iowa.
    WHEN
    Until 2 AM CST Wednesday.
    IMPACTS
    The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 20 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 20 to 30 minutes. Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin is exposed to these temperatures.
    PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
    Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves. Keep pets indoors as much as possible. Make sure outdoor animals have a warm, dry shelter, food, and unfrozen water. Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills inside.

Mary Lou Lischer
1929-2025

Mary Lou Lischer, 95, of Macomb passed away at 2:45 a.m. Friday, January 10, 2025 at Wesley Village Healthcare Center in Macomb.

She was born on December 8, 1929 in Elmwood to Orin and Mabel Slayton McKinty. She married Armin A. “Swede” Lischer on March 29, 1952 in Kentland,, Indiana. He passed away on November 15, 1984.

She is also preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Jack McKinty.

Mary Lou is survived by one son, Bill (Karen) Lischer of Macomb; two step-sons, Lynden (Fifi) Lischer of Ceritos, California and Lowell Lischer of Columbia, Missouri; four grandchildrn; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Joan Crowley of Pontiac and one sister-in-law, Donna McKinty of Yates City.

She has lived in Macomb since 1957. She and her husband Swede owned and operated the John Deere Dealership from 1948 until 1978.

She was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Macomb and a former member of the Macomb Country Club.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, January 17, 2025 at Elmwood Cemetery in Elmwood,Ill.
