    Very cold wind chills around 20 below.
    WHERE
    Portions of north central and northwest Illinois and east central, northeast, and southeast Iowa.
    WHEN
    Until 2 AM CST Wednesday.
    IMPACTS
    The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 20 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 20 to 30 minutes. Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin is exposed to these temperatures.
    PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
    Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves. Keep pets indoors as much as possible. Make sure outdoor animals have a warm, dry shelter, food, and unfrozen water. Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills inside.

Robert K. “Bob” Bay
1956-2024

Robert K. “Bob” Bay, 68, of Macomb passed away at 10:29 a.m. Thursday, December 12, 2024 at University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa.

He was born on September 3, 1956 in Van Buren, Missouri to Robert and Carol Rutledge Bay.

He is survived by his mother; Carol Bay of Ellington, Missouri; two daughters, Sara (Theron Hill) Bay of Lewistown and Sarah (Ryan Bradley) Wallick of Macomb; one son, Matthew Bay of Collinsville; grandchildren, Kinzie Taylor of Macomb, Madison Tigrett of Macomb; significant other, Dawn Casteel; two brothers, Jerry Bay and Michael Bay; two sisters, Vicki (Steve) Holt and AnneMarie Shepard and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Bay and brother, Robert Russell.

He was an army veteran serving from 1975 to 1978. He was a military policeman from November of 1975 to December of 1976.

He lived most of his life in Macomb. He attended Western Illinois University in Macomb. He worked as a police officer for WIU OPS for 29 years including the West Central Task Force.

He was a member of the Macomb American Legion and Macomb VFW.

Cremation rites have been accorded. Visitation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, December 28, 2024 at Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home A Celebration of Life will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, December 28, 2024 at the Macomb VFW.  Full military rites will be conducted at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, December 28,, 2024 by the Macomb VFW and Macomb American Legion at the Macomb VFW..

Memorials may be made to the Macomb VFW or Macomb American Legion.
