1933-2024
Shirley Ann Peters, 91, of Macomb went home to be with our Lord on Monday, August 19, 2024 at her residence after 3 years of dialysis and deciding to discontinue it. She was surrounded by her family.
She was born on February 28, 1933 in Mason City, Iowa to Harry and Doris Nielson Bell. She married Merlyn Peters on January 28, 1951 in Mason City, Iowa. He passed away on November 27, 2001.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Donna Nedved.
She is survived by three sons, Edward Sr. (Cathy) Peters of Macomb, Jerry (Dawn) Peters of Colchester and Gene (Sonya) Peters of Macomb; one daughter, Nancy (Ralph Schoonover) Brokaw of Macomb; seven grandchildren, Edward Jr. (Carrie) Peters of Macomb, Josh (Valerie) Peters of Macomb, Jeremy (Mandi) Peters of Colchester, Angie Comrie of Colchester, Nick (Alex Pena) Peters of Maryland, Sarah (Dustin) Lambert of Macomb and Trey (Stephanie) Brokaw of Manhattan, Kansas; fourteen great-grandchildren. Jordan Peters, Jonathan Peters, Megan Peters, Kylie Peters, Cameron Peters, Cody Peters, Cael Peters, Liam Comrie, Joslyn Comrie, Julia Comrie, Lily Lambert, Langdon Lambert, Leighton Lambert and Logan Lambert; brother-in-law, Paul Nedved of Minnesota and her life long friend, Shirley Bolton of Eagle Grove, Iowa.
Shirley worked cleaning houses when her children were young. She also worked for 20 years at Macomb Senior High School as head cook retiring in 1993. Shirley lived her last 10 years at Lafayette Square in Macomb. She had great love for her family and enjoyed gambling, puzzles, cooking, card games and pokeno.
Cremation rites have been accorded. Private grave side services will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Macomb. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, August 24, 2024 at Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb.
