Steven Edward Roon, 68, of Macomb passed away at 10 a.m. Friday, February 28, 2025 at his residence.
He was born on October 30, 1956 in Chicago to Glenn A. and Alice June Mack Roon. He married Cindy Mainzer on July 17, 1982 at the Grace Lutheran Church in Mt. Prospect. She survives.
Also surviving are three children, Grant Roon of Zion, Illinois, Erik (Courtney) Roon of Quincy and Shannon Roon of Chicago; as well as an adopted son, Nick (Katie) Tomich of Macomb; seven grandchildren, Martina Roon, Tobias Roon, Olivia Roon, Donovan Roon, Leo Tomich, Matthew Tomich and Elise Sullivan; two brothers, Glenn (Jeanne) Roon, Jr and Dave (Carole) Roon; two sisters, Jan (Bill) Henderson and Barb (Gary) Suits and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Steve was a graduate of Western Illinois University with a bachelors degree in Law Enforcement and a minor in Business. He was a member of the Delta Tau Delta Fraternity, and served as the advisor for the past 25 years. Steve worked in sales all his life before his retirement.
Following his retirement, Steve worked as a substitute teacher for Macomb and several local area schools. He was a member of the Macomb Country Club and was currently serving as the grounds chairman for the Macomb Country Club Board. Steve was an avid golfer and was proud of his hole-in-one on hole 17 at the Macomb Country Club. He was an avid bowler and had five perfect 300 games. He was a member of the Central Illinois Bowling Hall of Fame.
Cremation rites have been accorded. Private family grave side services will be held at Oakwood Cemetery at a later date. If you have any photos of Steve for the video that is being prepare, you may send them by email to [email protected].
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Macomb Country Club on April 5, 2025 at 3 p.m. Stories and Tributes will take place at 6 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the Delta Tau Delta Lowell Oxtoby Scholarship Fund.
