On Thursday, May 9th, the Dixon Police Department received information about a sexual assault to a child. Detectives initiated an investigation and during the course of investigation identified Richard O. Snider, age 89, of Dixon, Illinois as the suspect.
On May 16th, Snider was arrested and taken to Lee County Jail. Snider
was charged with the following: (1) Count of Criminal Sexual Assault of a Child, a Class 1 Felony, (1) Count of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse of a Child, a Class 2 Felony, (2) Counts of Grooming, a Class 4 Felonies.
The Dixon Police Department was assisted in the investigation by the Lee County State’s Attorney’s Office, the Shining Star Children’s Advocacy Center, and Department of Children and Family Services.
The charges are merely allegations and all parties are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
