January 2
Officer was notified that a Galva resident had contacted a family member and advised they intended to overdose using heroin. Officer checked several locations in Galva, but was not able to locate the subject. She was later found in Kewanee.
Officer was dispatched to the 600 block of SE Industrial Ave for a complaint involving cows out near the roadway. Officer contacted the owner and assisted them with getting the cows back into a pasture.
Officer was dispatched to the 900 block of SE 2nd Street to check the area after a complaint involving a possible blown power transformer. Officer was not able to locate any issues.
Officer was dispatched to the 100 block of SE 3rd Street to check for a suspicious person who had reportedly been screaming. Officer was not able to locate anyone.
January 3
Officer was dispatched to the 500 block of SE 4th Street for a complaint involving threats through Facebook.
Officer was dispatched to the 00 block of SW 4th Street for a single vehicle accident with damage only. A vehicle had struck a wooden fence and left the scene without contacting police.
Officer was contacted by a subject who lives out-of-state to attempt to locate her daughter to conduct a welfare check. Officer checked several locations and was not able to locate subject in question.
January 4
Officer was dispatched to an accident where a semi truck went through the railroad gates on Exchange Street as they were coming down and struck the gate, destroying it, before driving away. As the result, Kelly Atchison, 60, Alpha, was cited for disobeying a railroad crossing device and failure to report accident to police authority. He was released with a required court date.
Officer was dispatched to the 200 block of Morgan Road for a 9-1-1 hang up call during a sporting event. It was determined to be an accidental pocket dial.
Officer was notified that a railroad crossing gate had been struck by an unknown vehicle at the Exchange Street crossing. BNSF was contacted for repairs.
Officer was dispatched to the 00 block of NE 5th Ave for a report of smoke in the area. It was determined to be coming from a neighbor’s wood burning stove.
January 5
Officer was dispatched to the 600 block of SE Industrial Ave for an activated burglar alarm. It was determined to be a false alarm.
January 6
Officer was dispatched to the 00 block of SW 4th Street to assist a citizen who appeared to be having a mental health crisis.
Officer was notified that a set of keys had been turned in to Kewanee PD that had a key tag marked with a Galva business. A deputy brought the keys to Galva and turned them in to the lost and found.
Officer was dispatched to check a large brush fire just north of town. It was determined to be a controlled and supervised fire.
Officer was dispatched to the 500 block of SE 4th Street after the resident reported seeing someone walking through their yard late at night. Officer was not able to locate the subject.
January 7
Officer was dispatched to the 300 block of NW 1st Street for a report of a natural gas odor. The fire department and Ameren were also contacted to respond.
A traffic stop was conducted in the 1100 block of SE 2nd Street for a moving and equipment violation. As the officer was writing a warning notice, the Galva K9 completed a free air sniff of the vehicle and gave a positive indication. The occupants and vehicle were searched, which resulted in the passenger being placed under arrest. Angelica Taylor-Bozarth, 21, Wyanet, was arrested for possession of heroin, unlawful use of weapons, possession of hypodermic syringes, and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was taken to the Henry Co jail and during a strip search there, a bag was discovered hidden on her person. The contents of the bag were tested and returned with a positive presence of fentanyl.
January 8
Officer noticed that a train had stopped and was blocking all of the Galva railroad crossings. BNSF was contacted and the train eventually moved along.

January 8
Karole Bolin Tedin, 57, Altona, was issued a citation for having expired registration in the 200 block of SE 1st Ave.
Trinity O Donnell, 18, Galva, was issued a citation for disobeying a stop sign in the 200 block of NW 2nd Street.
