April 8
Officer met with a resident at the Galva PD in reference to a city ordinance violation.
Officer met with a subject at the Galva PD to assist them with explaining options for how to resolve a traffic citation they received a couple weeks ago.
Officer was dispatched to the 100 block of NE 2nd Street for a complaint involving an older male adult attempting to talk to two female juveniles walking. Officer was not able to locate the suspect or vehicle.
While patrolling, officer checked on a subject parked in the roadway on Bonham Road near 1950 East. The subject had stopped to make a phone call.
Officer was dispatched to the 500 block of SE 2nd Street to assist a motorist that had a disabled vehicle. The vehicle was ultimately towed, per the owner’s request.
Officer was dispatched to the 900 block of North Center Ave for a runaway juvenile complaint. The juvenile was located at a friend’s house across town.
April 9
Officer was requested to check around the Galva area for a vehicle that had been taken without permission. Officer was not able to locate.
Officer was dispatched to the 400 block of NW 2nd Ave to assist to check the welfare of a subject after Geneseo PD had received an open line call. The subject in question no longer lives in Galva.
Officer was dispatched to a residence on NW 7th Street for a welfare check. The subject was entered as a missing person-adult. The subject has since been located and is fine.
Officer was dispatched to the 900 block of North Center Ave for a juvenile runaway complaint. Crisis intervention was contacted to resolve this ongoing issue.
April 10
Officer was notified about a vehicle repossession taking place in the 400 block of SW 1st Ave. There were no issues.
As the result of a traffic stop in the 900 block of North Center Ave, Brandi York, 30, Galva, was arrested for driving while license suspended, operating a vehicle with expired registration, and operating an uninsured vehicle. She was transported to the Galva PD for processing and then released with a required court date.
Officer was dispatched to the 300 block of SW 3rd Street to assist a subject that was suffering from a mental health crisis.
Officer was dispatched to the 700 block of NW 4th Street to speak to a subject who had questions about being banned from a business several years ago. After speaking to the owner of the business, the ban will remain in effect.
Officer was dispatched to the 300 block of SW 7th Street to complete a low speed vehicle inspection.
Officer spoke to a resident by telephone in regards to threatening phone calls they had received from a family member.
April 11
Officer was dispatched to the 400 block of SW 3rd Street to assist a parent with an out-of-control juvenile that insisted they were walking to their other parent’s house in Kewanee. The child was detained and later calmed down enough to return home.
Officer was dispatched to the 00 block of SW 4th Street to assist the ambulance with a medical emergency involving an unresponsive subject. The complaint was unfounded.
April 12
Officer met with a subject at the Galva PD to who wished to file an identity theft complaint after several credit cards were opened in his name without his knowledge or consent.
Officer met with a subject at the Galva PD to complete a traffic crash report from a fender bender at a gas station a few days earlier.
Officer was dispatched to the 00 block of SW 4th Street to assist a citizen whose dog had broken a leash and ran away. Officer was able to capture the dog and return it.
Officer was contacted by a local hospital in reference to a subject needing a ride home. Officer was not able to provide a ride.
April 13
Officer was dispatched to the Exchange Street railroad crossing for a crossing arm malfunction. BNSF was contacted for repairs.
Officer was dispatched to the 700 block of NW 4th Street for a neighbor dispute.
Officer was dispatched to the 700 block of NW 4th Street for a complaint involving a yard ornament being damaged.
Officer met with a subject at the Galva PD in reference to a wallet being turned in that was found. The wallet was returned to it’s owner.
Officer was notified about a suspect vehicle travelling E/B on Route 34 near Wataga that had been involved in a pursuit in Warren Co earlier. Officer sat near the west edge of town but did not locate the vehicle.
Officer was dispatched to the 500 block of SE 2nd Street for a disturbance complaint involving juveniles throwing items at a subject.
April 14
Officer was dispatched to the 700 block of NW 1st Ave for a physical altercation involving several subjects. One subject was located that had obvious facial injuries, however, they refused to cooperate with police. The victim was transported by ambulance for treatment.
Officer was notified by Kewanee PD in reference to a Galva resident that had left Walmart with un-restrained children in the vehicle. Kewanee PD was able to locate the suspect vehicle and address the complaint.
Officer was dispatched to the 400 block of SE 7th Ave for several complaints involving loud music. The subject agreed to turn it down.
As the result of a traffic stop in the 500 block of SE 2nd Street, Thomas Swing, 22, Knoxville, was cited for operating a vehicle when registration suspended for no insurance and operating an uninsured vehicle. Also, he was wanted on a Knox Co warrant for failure to appear on the charge of unlawful possession of cannabis with intent to deliver. Per Knox Co, he was released with a notice to appear in court.
Officer was dispatched to the SW 6th Ave railroad tracks for a crossing arm malfunction. BNSF was contacted for repairs.
Citations
April 13
Gualajara Melendez, 39, Moline, was issued citations for speeding and no insurance in the 1100 block of SE 2nd Street.
Jeffrey Reynolds, 42, Kewanee, was issued citations for operating a vehicle when registration suspended for mandatory insurance and operating an uninsured vehicle in the 1100 block of SE 2nd Street.
Natalie Johnson, 39, Galva, was issued citations for having expired registration and operating an uninsured vehicle in the 300 block of SE 2nd Street.
April 14
Nicholas Carvello, 31, Galva, was issued a citation for having expired registration in the 300 block of North Center Ave.
