May 1
Officer met with a Galva resident at the Galva PD to gather additional information about a child abuse case that had been reported on April 30th.
Officer was dispatched to the Galva High School for a 9-1-1 hang up call. The Galva SRO was able to locate the student and verify there was no emergency.
A Galva resident came to the Galva PD to check the status of a banning notice they had been served last year. They were advised it was still in effect.
Officer was dispatched to the 400 block of NW 5th Street for a complaint involving trash and recyclables blowing into neighbor’s yards due to high wind.
Officer was dispatched to the 500 block of SW 1st Ave for a 9-1-1 hang up call. It was determined to be a child playing with a phone.
Officer was dispatched to the 100 block of NE 6th Street for a loose dog complaint. The dog was impounded.
Officer was dispatched to the 00 block of NW 5th Street for a verbal domestic dispute.
May 2
Officer was dispatched to the 800 block of NE 3rd Ave for a loose dog complaint. The dog was impounded.
Officer was dispatched to the 100 block of NW 3rd Street for a complaint involving an injured squirrel in the roadway. The squirrel was deceased upon officer’s arrival.
Officer was dispatched to the 100 block of NW 2nd Street for a 9-1-1 open line complaint. Officer was not able to find anyone needing assistance.
Officer was dispatched to the 400 block of SE 7th Ave for two 9-1-1 hang up complaints. It was determined to be a mis dial.
Officer met with a subject at the Galva PD in reference to returning property taken during an arrest several months ago. The items were returned.
Officer was dispatched to Wiley Park for several complaints involving a car driving through the grass and on the basketball court. The suspect was located and warned.
Officer was dispatched to the 100 block of NW 5th Street for a stray cat complaint. The cat was checked for a microchip and then returned to where it was found.
Officer was dispatched to the 500 block of East Division Street to assist a citizen.
Officer was dispatched to the 600 block of SW 3rd Ave for a 9-1-1 open line call. It was confirmed to be a mis dial.
May 3
Officer attended two interviews at the Braveheart Children’s Advocacy Center in Cambridge in reference to a child abuse case.
Officer was dispatched to a residence on SW 4th Street for a welfare check. The resident was found deceased. The coroner was contacted.
Officer was dispatched to the 00 block of SW 4th Street to remove an unwanted subject. As the result, Donna Bergesch, 57, Galva, was arrested for criminal trespass to property. Also, Eloise Cleveland, 67, Galva, was issued citations for operating a vehicle with suspended registration due to no insurance, and operating an uninsured vehicle.
May 4
Officer was dispatched to the 700 block of NW 3rd Ave for a low speed vehicle inspection.
Officer went to the 200 block of NE 6th Street to follow up on a child abuse case that was being investigated. As the result, Bryce Glisan, 32, Galva, was arrested for aggravated battery to a child (with great bodily harm) to a child under 13 years old, and two counts of domestic battery. He was taken to the Henry Co Jail.
Officer was dispatched to assist Knox County with a single vehicle accident with injuries about 2 1/2 miles south of Galva on Route 17.
Officer was dispatched to the north edge of Galva to watch for a suspect vehicle that reportedly ran another car into the ditch on Page Street. Officer did not locate the suspect vehicle.
Officer was flagged down by a citizen about a trash dumping complaint that was occurring SE of town. The subject was referred to Knox Co.
Officer was dispatched to the west end of town to watch for a reckless driver after a complaint on Route 34. The driver was located and identified. The complainant was planning to follow up with States Attorney’s Office for possible charges.
Officer was dispatched to the 00 block of SW 4th Street for a loud noise complaint. Neighbor agreed to keep noise down.
Officer was dispatched to an activated burglar alarm in the 500 block of SE 2nd Street. It was a false alarm.
Officer was dispatched to the 00 block of NE 4th Ave for a loud noise complaint. Subjects were advised to keep music down.
May 5
Officer was dispatched to the 00 block of NW 5th Street to deliver a message for Kewanee PD.
Officer was dispatched to the 300 block of SW 2nd Ave for a scam involving Facebook.
Officer was dispatched to the 800 block of NE 3rd Ave of NE 3rd Ave for a 9-1-1 open line complaint. It was a pocket dial.
Officer was dispatched to the 00 block of NE 4th Ave for a telephone harassment / threats complaint.
Officer was dispatched to the 1000 block of SE 2nd Street to remove an unwanted patron.
May 6
Officer was dispatched to assist Stark Co Medic on Wallace Street with a medical emergency.
Officer assisted Henry Co and Knox Co with traffic control for a motorcycle ride from Kewanee into Knox Co.
Officer was dispatched to the 200 block of NE 3rd Street for a 9-1-1 hang up call. It was confirmed to be a mis dial.
Officer assisted Henry Co with a complaint involving possible gunshots several miles east of Galva. Officers were not able to locate anyone.
May 7
Officer was dispatched to the 500 block of East Division Street for a loose dog complaint. Dog returned home.
Officer was dispatched to the 400 block of NW 1st Street for a 9-1-1 hang up call. It was a pocket dial.
Officer was dispatched to the Galva Cemetery for a report of two loose dogs. Officer was not able to locate.
Officer was dispatched to a two vehicle accident with damage only in the 00 block of Morgan Road. A crash report was completed.
Officer was dispatched to the 400 block of NW 4th Ave for a reckless driving complaint.
Officer was dispatched to the 100-200 block of Main Street for a verbal disturbance. Officer spoke to several people. Complaint unfounded.
