July 24
Officer was dispatched to the 300 block of NE 9th Street for a dog bite complaint. A local medical facility had called and advised a subject had been bitten by their own family dog.
Officer was dispatched to assist a citizen in the 400 block of NW 9th Street.
July 25
Officer was dispatched to the 1200 block of NW 3rd Ave to assist a motorist that had locked keys inside a vehicle. They were provided the phone number for Tarletons to assist them.
Officer was dispatched to the 300 block of SE 7th Street for a 9-1-1 open line call. It was determined to be a pocket dial.
While patrolling, officer located a disabled and abandoned vehicle in the 300 block of SE 4th Street. The vehicle was red-tagged for future towing.
As the result of a traffic stop in the 300 block of North Center Ave, Justin Smith, 19, Wataga, was arrested for operating a vehicle when registration suspended for no insurance and operating an uninsured vehicle. He was released with a required court date.
Officer was dispatched to the 100 block of NW 5th Street for a low speed vehicle inspection.
July 26
Officer assisted Stark Co Ambulance with a medical call in the 500 block of E Division St.
Officer met with a citizen at police headquarters to answer questions regarding a civil matter.
Officer assisted Henry County Sheriff’s Police with a traffic stop on US 34 at the east edge of Galva.
Officer assisted a 46-years old male vagabond. The subject was transported to a nearby town.
Officer dispatched to 100 block of S Center Ave for a theft complaint. A 51-years old resident reported a loss of $100 currency.
July 27
Officer was dispatched to the BNSF Railway grade crossing at Exchange Street for a malfunctioning crossing warning gate. Officer directed traffic until railroad personnel arrived to attend to the issue.
Officer dispatched to the 900 block of W Division St for a city ordinance violation. Complainant advised bags of household trash was accumulating in the backyard. Officer spoke with a 38-years old female resident who said she would have the trash removed soon.
Officers handled a child custody dispute complaint at Sentry Estates. A 38-years old female was requesting the return of her daughter from the daughter’s father. The exchange was completed peacefully.
Officer was dispatched to the 100 block of S Center Ave to talk with a 51-years old citizen in regards to information concerning the welfare of a Kewanee citizen.
July 28
Officer was dispatched to the 400 block of NW 5th St for a report of a dog outside without shelter or water. Galva was under a heat advisory and the high temperature was 106 degrees with the heat index. Officer located a black colored dog confined in a side yard with no shelter. Contact was made with a resident and the dog was immediately taken inside.
Officer delivered an urgent message of a medical emergency to a citizen at a residence just south of Galva.
Officer dispatched to W Division St and SW 9th Ave (US 34) for a tree down causing a road hazard. A strong windstorm passed through Galva causing the tree to be blown over.
Officer dispatched to 500 block of SE 4th St for a report of downed utility lines and tree limbs caused by a strong windstorm.
July 29
Officer was dispatched to a residence in the 100 block of NE 9th St in the early morning hours for a domestic dispute between a 36-years old male and his 62-years old mother. Peace was restored.
Officer was contacted by an out-of-town subject with questions regarding parking regulations at Wiley Park during the Sunday evening concerts.
Officer assisted Stark Co Ambulance in the 100 block NW 8th Ave with a 63-years old male needing medical attention.
Officer dispatched to a residence in the 700 block NE 1st Ave for a 911 open-line call. Officer met with a citizen and determined there was no emergency.
Officer on patrol discovered a citizen burning unauthorized items in the 300 block of SE 7th Ave. The citizen was warned and advised of the violation.
July 30
Officer was dispatched to the Galva Park District for a report of juveniles operating motorcycles on the park grounds. It was discovered that one of the juveniles crashed a motorcycle into a fence causing minor injury to the juvenile. The motorcycle had been removed from the park prior to the officer’s arrival. Contact with juvenile’s parent/guardian was made and a warning issued.
A 911 open-line call was received from a cellular telephone in the 000 block of NW 4th St. There was no emergency.
Officer assisted Stark Co Ambulance with a medical emergency at Wiley Park.
Officer assisted Stark Co Ambulance with a 66-years old female having a medical emergency at Lincoln House, 19 SW 4th St.
Citations
July 25
Austin Zerfass, 24, Peoria, was issued a citation for speeding in the 1100 block of SE 2nd Street.
Adam Karlosky, 30, Standard, IL, was issued a citation for having expired registration in the 500 block of SE 2nd Street.
Emma LaFollette, 20, Kewanee, was issued a citation for speeding in the 1000 block of SW 2nd Street.
A 17 year old Galva resident was issued a citation for speeding in the 1000 block of SE 2nd Street.
Leah Anderson, 25, Galva, was issued a citation for Operating Uninsured Vehicle on Chester St at Commercial St.
