Officer was dispatched to a residence on SW 4th Ave for a welfare check after a subject was heard screaming for help. Officer checked the area, but did not locate anyone.
Officer was dispatched to the 00 block of SE 2nd Street for a 9-1-1 hang up call. It was determined to be an accidental mis dial.
Officer was dispatched to the Galva Park District for a 9-1-1 open line call. It was determined to be a mis dial.
August 1
Officer was dispatched to Wiley Park for a complaint involving a pocket knife that had been found. The knife was collected and disposed of, due to it’s poor condition.
Officer was advised of a vehicle repossession that was taking place in the 500 block of SW 6th Street.
Officer went to a residence in the 900 block of West Division Street in reference to a city ordinance violation involving accumulating trash. The subject agreed to dispose of it.
August 2
Officer was dispatched to the 400 block of NW 3rd Ave for a civil complaint involving labor that hasn’t been completed. The complainant was referred to a private attorney for guidance.
Officer was dispatched to the Galva Park District for an altercation involving several juveniles. The victim’s guardian declined to prosecute. The suspects were turned over to parents.
Officer was dispatched to check on a suspicious vehicle parked in the 1100 block of SE 2nd Street. Officer spoke to two occupants, who were talking after a verbal dispute.
Officer was dispatched to assist Henry Co on County Highway 5 a couple miles north of town for a hit-and-run accident involving a vehicle striking a gas line, fence, and damaging a field. The driver left the scene but turned themselves in the following morning.
August 3
Officer was dispatched to the Exchange Street railroad crossing for a complaint involving a subject walking on the railroad tracks. Officer checked all of the Galva crossings and was unable to locate anyone.
Officer was dispatched to the 300 block of Main Street after a diaper bag was dropped and then taken by an unknown person. Officer located the suspect and the diaper bag was returned to it’s rightful owner.
Officer was dispatched to the 200 block of NW 1st Ave for an attempted scam through snapchat.
August 4
Officer was dispatched to a residence on SW 4th Street for a welfare check on several children. They were fine.
Officer was dispatched to a residence on SW 3rd Street for a welfare check on a resident. Subject was not home.
August 5
Officer was dispatched to the north edge of Galva to assist Atkinson PD with a high speed chase involving a motorcycle that fled southbound from the Atkinson area. It ended up going towards Kewanee and then Bureau Co. Galva did not have any involvement.
Officer was dispatched to the 800 block of East Division Street for a low speed vehicle inspection.
As the result of a traffic stop in the 1000 block of SW 2nd Street, Joseph Neece, 42, Galva, was cited for operating a vehicle with suspended registration and operating an uninsured vehicle. He was released with a required court date.
Officer was dispatched to a residence on NE 2nd Street to check the welfare of a young child that walked away from the house without adult knowledge. DCFS was contacted.
Officer was dispatched to a residence on NW 2nd Street for a suicidal subject that had reportedly ingested a large amount of pills and had a knife. The subject was transported by ambulance for treatment / evaluation.
August 6
Officer was dispatched to the 700 block of NW 3rd Ave for a 9-1-1 open line call. Subject was having phone problems and couldn’t turn phone off.
Officer was dispatched to the 00 block of Wallace Street for an injured bird complaint. The bird was relocated.
As the result of a traffic stop in the 500 block of SE 2nd Street, Jeremy Payne, 43, Galva, was cited for operating a vehicle when registration was suspended, and operating an uninsured vehicle. He was released with a required court date.
