August 7
While patrolling, officer noticed that a freight train had stopped in town and was blocking every crossing. Traffic backed up considerably for at least 45 minutes before the train eventually moved along.
Officer met with a resident at the Galva PD to assist them with verifying their driver’s license status after a recent infraction.
Officer spoke to a subject by telephone in reference to a lost wallet and cell phone. These items have not been located.
Officer was dispatched to the 300 block of SE 2nd Street for a physical domestic disturbance.
Officer was dispatched to the 100 block of North Center Ave for a 9-1-1 hang up complaint. Officer checked the area, but was not able to locate anyone needing assistance.
Officer met a subject at the Galva PD to complete a low speed vehicle inspection.
As the result of a traffic stop in the 200 block of SE 2nd Ave, Kathleen Becket, 58, Galva, was cited for operating a vehicle when registration is suspended for no insurance and operating an uninsured vehicle. She was released with a required court date.
August 8
Officer completed a crash report from several weeks ago after an insurance company requested it. At the time, very minor damage was located on the vehicles involved.
Officer was dispatched to the 300 block of SW 3rd Street to remove an unwanted subject.
Officer was dispatched to the SE area of town to watch for a reckless driver coming into town. The same subject was called in as an unwanted subject at a residence on SE 6th Street a short time later.
Officer was dispatched to the 600 block of SE Industrial Ave for a suspicious vehicle complaint. Officer spoke to the subject, who was talking on a CB radio.
August 9
Officer was dispatched to the 400 block of SW 1st Ave for a wild animal complaint involving a sick or injured squirrel. Animal was euthanized as it was suffering.
As the result of a traffic stop in the 00 block of NE 2nd Street, Desiree Ryder, 39, Kewanee, was arrested for improper use of registration and operating an uninsured vehicle. She was released with a required court date.
Officer was flagged down about possible attempted forced entry on a building in the 100 block of Market Street. Some plywood was rotten due to age. The owner was contacted for repairs.
Officer was dispatched to the 500 block of NE 3rd Street for a domestic disturbance. A subject that answered the door tried to shut the door on the officer and a brief struggle ensued. As the result, Riley Rafferty, 21, Galva, was arrested for resisting or obstructing a police officer. He was released with a required court date.
August 10
Officer was dispatched to the 00 block of SE 3rd Street for an abandoned vehicle complaint. Officer checked the vehicle and placed a red tag on it warning the owner that it may be towed after 72 hours.
Officer met with a subject at the Galva PD to complete a low speed vehicle inspection.
August 11
Officer was dispatched to assist IL DCFS with a home visit in the 500 block of NE 3rd Street.
Officer was dispatched to a residence on SE 7th Ave for a mental health crisis.
Officer was dispatched to the 00 block of SW 2nd Street to remove an unwanted customer from a business. The subject was removed and formally served a ban notice that they are no longer welcome there.
Officer located a natural gas leak while patrolling in the 00 block of NW 5th Street. Ameren was contacted for repairs.
Officer was dispatched to the Galva viaduct west of town to investigate a suspicious vehicle there. Several teenagers were located and told to move along.
August 12
Officer, along with Henry Co, were dispatched to the 400 block of NW 4th Street for a complaint involving several dogs fighting with each other.
Officer was dispatched to check the welfare of a subject in the 400 block of South Center Ave. As the result, Marian Murphy, 60, Moline, was arrested on a Knox County warrant for failing to appear on the charge of criminal trespass to a building. She was taken to the Henry Co Jail.
Officer was dispatched to the 200 block of NE 4th Street in reference to harassment through social media.
Officer was dispatched to the Galva Park District for a 9-1-1 open line call during the concert.
Officer was dispatched to the 200 block of SW 4th Ave in reference to a vehicle being damaged by an unknown subject keying it, which caused significant damage.
Officer was dispatched to the Galva Park District for a three 9-1-1 hang up calls during the concert.
Officer was dispatched to the 500 block of East Division Street for a complaint involving a subject trying to gain entry into several houses in the area. Officers checked the area, but did not locate anyone.
Officer was dispatched three times to the 900 block of NW 5th Ave for a fireworks complaint. The subject was located and advised to stop.
During a traffic stop in the 100 block of Exchange Street, a passenger, Marion Kasparie, 60, Galesburg, reportedly became belligerent and uncooperative. As the result, he was arrested for obstructing identification, resisting or obstructing a police officer and failure to wear a seat belt as a passenger. He was released with required court dates.
August 13
Officer was dispatched to the 300 block of Market Street for a fight involving several injured subjects. At this time, Averyl Stephenson, 25, Galva, and Jason Montgomery, 37, Galva, have been charged with disorderly conduct. This case has been sent to the Henry Co State’s Attorney’s office for review of additional charges.
Officer was dispatched to a residence on SE 7th Ave for a subject having a mental health crisis. The subject was taken by ambulance for treatment / evaluation.
Officer was dispatched to the 100 block of NE 4th Street for a welfare check. The house in question is abandoned.
Officer was dispatched to the railroad tracks on SW 6th Ave for a loose dog that was near the tracks. Officer called a phone number found on the collar and the dog was returned to it’s owner.
