    PRECAUTIONS
    Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. The next statement will be issued by Monday evening at 845 PM CDT.

September 11
Officer was dispatched to a residence on NE 2nd Street to assist the ambulance with an aggressive patient having a medical emergency.
Officer was dispatched to a residence on NE 8th Ave to check the welfare of a subject. They were fine.
Officer was dispatched to a two vehicle accident with damage only in the 00 block of SW 4th Ave.
Officer met with a subject at the Galva PD to renew their annual sex offender registry.
As the result of a complaint yesterday involving broken windows and trespassing at an abandoned house, a 14 year old and a 15 year old, both from Galva, were issued a juvenile referrals to court for trespassing and criminal damage to property. They were each turned over to their parents.
Officer was dispatched to the 00 block of Chester Street for a disturbance complaint.
September 12
Officer was dispatched just north of Galva on the Galva-Atkinson blacktop to remove two deer carcasses from the roadway. Officer located a broken brown colored couch in the roadway and removed it.
Officer was dispatched to the 200 block of Main Street for a wild animal complaint involving a dead fox in the roadway. It was removed and disposed of.
Officer was dispatched to the 1000 block of SE 2nd Street to meet with a subject that had just struck a deer east of town on Route 34. Officer completed a crash report.
Officer was dispatched to the 100 block of North Exchange Street for a 9-1-1 hang up call. It was determined to be a pocket dial.
Officer was dispatched to the area of SE 5th Street and SE 3rd Ave for a loose pitbull complaint. The animal owner was putting dog back into house upon officer’s arrival.
Officer was dispatched to the 100 block of SW 9th Ave for a damage to property complaint involving a vehicle that drove through complainant’s yard after missing the curb of the road.
Officer was dispatched to the 00 block of NE 4th Street for a complaint involving a mental health crisis.
Officer was dispatched to the 100 block of NE 1st Street for a complaint involving two loose dogs. 2 different owners were warned and advised of the Illinois leash law for all pets.
Officer, along with the fire department and Stark Co Medic, were dispatched to a natural gas leak in the 00 block of NE 8th Street. It was determined that the leak was coming from a tank on a camper parked nearby.
Officer was dispatched to the downtown area for a traffic complaint involving reckless driving. The suspect vehicle was located and the juvenile driver was warned.
Officer was dispatched to the 00 block of NE 4th Street for multiple various complaints involving 27 false calls to Henry Co 9-1-1 for various topics. As the result, John Kurzeja, 42, Galva, was arrested for disorderly conduct, false reporting to a police agency, and resisting arrest. He was taken to the Henry Co Jail after a brief struggle.
Officer was dispatched to a residence on NE 3rd Street for a suicidal juvenile. The subject was transported by ambulance for treatment /evaluation.
Officer was dispatched to a different house on NE 3rd Street for a suicidal subject holding a knife. This subject was also taken by ambulance for evaluation / treatment.
September 13
Officer was dispatched to Wiley Park for a complaint involving a utility pole that broke off, due to old age, and wires were hanging low.
Officer conducted a welfare check on a Galva resident that sent a family member several text messages that were possibly suicidal. Officer contacted another police agency and the subject was located.
Officer was dispatched to the 800 block of NE 3rd Street to assist a subject that had questions about a foid card. They were referred to the Illinois State Police for assistance.
Officer was dispatched to the 100 block of NE 4th Ave for a 9-1-1 hang up call. Officer was not able to locate anyone needing assistance.
Officer was dispatched to a business in Galva in reference to a theft over $500.00 complaint. This case is pending.
As the result of a traffic stop in the 800 block of North Center Ave, a 17 year old driver from Cambridge was issued a juvenile referral for reckless conduct after a juvenile passenger was seen sitting on the passenger door while a vehicle was in motion. The 15 year old Galva passenger was issued a citation for failure to wear a seatbelt.
September 14
Officer met with a subject at the Galva PD in reference to a subject leaving a note on complainant’s front door after a court order to not have any contact.
Officer was dispatched to the 100 block of South Center Ave for a civil complaint involving a vehicle that was loaned but not returned. The subject contacted vehicle owner and made arrangements to return it.
Officer was dispatched to the 500 block of West Division Street for a 9-1-1 open line complaint. It was a confirmed misdial.
Officer was dispatched to the 00 block of Chester Street of a civil property dispute.
Officer was dispatched to the 300 block of SE 3rd Street for a child custody dispute.
Officer was dispatched to the area of NW 4th Ave and NW 2nd Street for a loose dog complaint. Officer was not able to locate.
As the result of a traffic stop in the 200 block of SE 3rd Ave, Haley Peed, 23, Kewanee was arrested for possession of adult use cannabis in a motor vehicle. She was released with a required court date.
As the result of a traffic stop in the 00 block of NW 5th Ave, Delores Garza, 29, Kewanee, was cited for operating a vehicle when registration is suspended for no insurance and operating an uninsured vehicle. She was released with a required court date.
Officer was dispatched to a residence on South Center Ave for a welfare check. The subject was fine.
September 15
Officer checked on a suspicious vehicle that was parked on NE 9th Street near the Galva Sewer Plant late at night. It was a teenager that had a verbal disagreement with their parents. They were advised to move along.
Officer located a checkbook in the 1300 block of SE 2nd Street. Officer was unable to locate the owner at this time.
Officer was dispatched to the 500 block of SE 2nd Street for an activated panic alarm. It was determined to be a false alarm.
Officer was advised of a child custody issue on SE 2nd Street.
Officer was dispatched to the 200 block of NW 2nd Ave for an injured baby squirrel. A wildlife rehabilitator was contacted and took the squirrel.
Officer was dispatched to the 600 block of SE 2nd Street for an activated alarm. It was determined to be a false alarm.
September 16
Officer was dispatched to the 300 block of Front Street for a physical fight. Victim declined to press charges.
Officer was dispatched to the 200 block of SW 7th Street for a telephone harassment complaint.
As the result of a traffic stop in the 100 block of Commercial Street, Williams Johnston, 51, Kewanee, was cited for operating a vehicle when registration is suspended for no insurance and operating an uninsured vehicle. He was released with a required court date.
Officer was dispatched to the 900 block of SE 2nd Street for a loose dog complaint. Dog was returned home.
Officer was dispatched to a residence on South Center Ave for a juvenile bullying complaint.
September 17
Officer was dispatched to Wiley Park for a complaint of teenagers using inappropriate language around younger children.
As the result of a traffic stop in the 500 block of SE 5th Ave, Ronald Bombliss, 64, Galva, was cited for not having valid registration and for operating an uninsured vehicle. He was released with a required court date.
Officer was dispatched to the 00 block of SE 2nd Ave for a disturbance complaint.
