September 18
Officer was dispatched to Wiley Park for a 9-1-1 hang up call. It was determined to be a pocket dial from a juvenile.
Officer was dispatched to the 00 block of SW 2nd Street to assist a citizen who needed directions.
Officer was dispatched to assist a motorist with their hazards on just east of town on Route 34. The subject was fine and had pulled over to make a phone call.
As the result of a traffic stop in the 1100 block of SE 2nd Street, Alexander Juarez, 31, Kewanee, was arrested for speeding 26-35mph over the limit and operating an uninsured vehicle. He was released with a required court date.
Officer was dispatched to the 100 block of NW 6th Ave for a 9-1-1 hang up call. It was determined to be an accidental mis dial.
September 19
Officer was dispatched to the 00 block of SW 2nd Street to check the welfare of any employees at the Galva Dollar General store. Several customers noticed the lights were on, but the front doors were locked. Officer discovered nobody around and after checking into the matter, was told the store was temporarily closed due to staffing.
Officer was dispatched to Wiley Park to retrieve a wallet that someone had located. Officer found identification inside and returned it to it’s rightful owner.
Officer was flagged down in the 300 block of SE 2nd Street in reference to several suspicious subjects in the area. They were determined to be solicitors attempted to sell solar energy.
Officer was dispatched to the Galva High School for a motorist assist after a subject locked themselves out of a vehicle. They were provided contact information for a locksmith.
As the result of a traffic stop in the 500 block of SE 2nd Street, Daniel Podeswa, 48, Monmouth, was arrested for not having a driver’s license, not having valid registration, and speeding. He was released with a required court date.
September 20
Officer spoke to a resident about a neighborhood complaint involving mental health issues. A family member met with officer at the Galva PD to provide insight.
As the result of a traffic stop in the 100 block of SE 3rs Street, Scott Peed, 41, Kewanee, was arrested for operating a vehicle when registration suspended for no insurance and driving while license suspended. He was released with a required court date.
As the result of a traffic stop in the 300 block of SE 4th Ave, Richard Wheelhouse, 46, Kewanee, was cited for operating a vehicle when registration suspended for no insurance and operating an uninsured vehicle. He was released with a required court date.
Officer was dispatched to the 1000 block of SE 2nd Street for an audible panic alarm activation. It was determined to be a false alarm.
Officer was dispatched to the 00 block of SW 2nd Street for a theft involving a bag of ice from a business that is temporarily closed. There was no keyholder found to contact.
Officer was dispatched to the 100 block of SW 6th Ave for a prowler complaint. Officer checked the area, but wasn’t able to locate the suspect.
September 21
Officer was dispatched to assist Stark Co with a traffic stop near Black Hawk College where a subject was arrested on firearms and cannabis charges.
Officers went to both Galva Schools and participated in the annual ALICE lockdown drill for school threats.
Officer was requested to check around Galva for a dark colored pickup truck being driven by an autistic subject from the Quad Cities area that was reported missing. Officer was not able to locate the subject or vehicle. Several hours later, the subject was located in Bureau Co.
Officer met with two former Dollar General employees that wanted to turn in property belonging to the company. A district manager was contacted and arrangements were made for him to pick items up from Galva PD the following day.
Officer was dispatched to the 800 block of NE 3rd Ave for a loud music complaint. The juvenile subject agreed to turn it down.
Officer was dispatched to the 400 block of South Center Ave for a complaint involving younger children playing near the street. A parent was spoken to.
September 22
While patrolling, officer noticed a door standing open on a vehicle in the 00 block of NW 5th Street. Officer made contact with the resident and it was determined to have been accidentally left open.
Officer met with a subject at the Galva PD in reference to a welfare check request. The subject in question was not located.
Officer was dispatched to the 900 block of SE 6th Street for a theft report.
Officer was dispatched to the 300 block of Main Street for a 9-1-1 open line complaint. Officer spoke to subject, who advised it was a pocket dial.
September 23
As the result of a traffic stop in the 1100 block of SE 2nd Street, William Johnston, 51, Kewanee, was cited for operating a vehicle when registration suspended for no insurance and operating an uninsured vehicle. He was released with a required court date.
Officer spoke to a subject by telephone in reference to the whereabouts of a wanted subject. Officer was not able to locate.
Officer was dispatched to the Exchange Street railroad crossing for a disabled vehicle that ran over something metal and ruined her tire. She was provided contact info for BNSF.
Officer was dispatched to the Galva Park District for a complaint involving people turning lights on at the baseball fields.
Officer was dispatched to the east edge of town for a reckless driving complaint. Officer did not locate the suspect vehicle.
September 24
While patrolling, officer located a disabled golf cart near the intersection of Chester and Commercial Street. The owner was contacted and the golf cart was removed.
Officer was dispatched to the 200 block of NW 4th Ave for a complaint involving two dogs running at large. Officer located the owner and warned them about the Illinois Leash Law.
Officer was dispatched to the 800 block of NE 3rd Ave for a neighborhood complaint and a loose dog complaint.
Officer was dispatched to the 400 block of SW 3rd Street for a 9-1-1 hang up call. Officer did not locate anyone needing assistance.
Officer was dispatched to check the welfare of subjects that were reportedly involving in a physical domestic disturbance in a moving car between Kewanee and Galva. Officer located the subjects, who advised they were fine.
