October 23
Officer was dispatched to the west edge of town for a reckless driving complaint on Route 34. Officer was not able to locate the suspect vehicle.
Officer was dispatched to the 300 block of SW 4th Street for a 9-1-1 hang up call. It was a mis dial.
October 24
Officer was dispatched to the 400 block of Swank Street to deliver a message from the USPS Postal Inspector.
Officer, along with the fire department, were dispatched just SW of Galva for a field fire near a combine. It was well off the roadway.
Officer was flagged down by a pedestrian in the 700 block of SW 4th Street in reference to an unusual animal that they saw last week. The description sounded like a badger.
As the result of a traffic stop in the 200 block of Front Street, Julia Norman, 55, Galva, was cited for improper use of registration. She was released with a required court date.
Officer was dispatched to Wiley Park for a complaint involving a physical altercation involving juveniles. Camera footage revealed an 11 year old and a 12 year old fighting. No charges were files due to their age and being mutual combatants.
October 25
A subject brought a dog to the Galva PD that appeared to be under the influence of something. They were referred to an emergency vet clinic in Peoria.
Officer, along with the fire department, were dispatched to Route 34 near 1700 East for a transformer fire. It was found that a squirrel had been electrocuted and the fuses had tripped. Ameren was contacted for repairs.
While patrolling, officer located several tree limbs on the roadway in the 800 block of SE 2nd Street that may have fallen from a vehicle. They were removed.
Officer was dispatched to the 600 block of NW 1st Street in reference to a battery complaint.
Officer was dispatched to the 100 block of NW 2nd Ave for a 9-1-1 hang up call. It was determined to be a mis dial.
October 26
Officer was dispatched to Route 17 south of the cemetery to check on an abandoned bicycle that was laying near a guardrail. Officer located the bike, but did not find anyone around the area.
As the result of a traffic stop in the 400 block of North Center Ave, Danielle French, 32, Cambridge, was cited for operating a vehicle when registration suspended for no insurance and operating an uninsured vehicle. She was released with a required court date.
Officer was dispatched to Wiley Park pavilion for a vandalism complaint involving profanity carved into the metal picnic tables with a sharp object.
Officer was dispatched to the 800 block of NW 1st Ave for a 9-1-1 open line call. It was determined to be a mis dial.
October 27
Officer was dispatched to a residence on NE 4th Street for a welfare check on a suicidal subject. They were transported by ambulance for evaluation / treatment.
Officer was dispatched to the area near the Galva Cemetery to check the welfare of a subject walking with no shoes. They appeared to be having a mental health crisis and were ultimately transported to a family member’s house south of town.
Officer was dispatched to the 00 block of NW 2nd Street for a 9-1-1 hang up call. It was a pocket dial.
While patrolling, officer heard a disturbance in the 300 block of Market Street. They stopped to investigate and became involved in a physical altercation with numerous subjects. Bystanders were able to call 911 for help and emergency assistance was requested. Officers from Henry Co, off duty Galva, Kewanee, Stark Co, and Atkinson responded. As the result, Christopher Hill, 44, Galva, was arrested for aggravated battery to a police officer, aggravated battery-public place, resisting a police officer and domestic battery. Sally Coleman, 43, Galva, was arrested for resisting or obstructing a police officer, aggravated battery to a police officer, and disorderly conduct. Both subjects were taken to jail.
October 28
Officer was dispatched to the 100 block of South Center Ave for a hit-and-run accident involving a vehicle striking a trailer, which then struck the garage door. This remains under investigation.
Officer was flagged down by a subject in the 1100 block of SE 2nd Street to assist them with driving directions.
Officer was dispatched to the 300 block of SW 3rd Street for a theft report. The complainant appeared to be having a mental health crisis and the report was unfounded.
Officer was dispatched to the 00 block of SW 4th Street for a disturbance complaint.
Officer was dispatched to the 1100 block of North Center Ave to assist a motorist.
Officer was dispatched to assist Henry Co with locating a subject that struck a power pole and then returned to a residence near Galva. The subject was located and turned over to Henry Co.
Officer was dispatched to the 800 block of SE 2nd Street for a 9-1-1 call that plotted there. Officer was not able to locate anyone needing assistance.
October 29
Officer assisted Henry Co with a vehicle pursuit north of Galva. The pursuit was terminated after speeds increased to an unsafe level.
Officer was dispatched to the 800 block of East Division Street for an attempted scam.
Citations
October 23
Makenna Schwab, 22, Knoxville, was issued a citation for speeding in the 100 block of SE 2nd Street.
October 25
John Moraski, 28, Kewanee, was issued a citation for having expired registration in the 200 block of Main Street.
