ISP Troop 1, March Enforcement Detail Results

The Illinois State Police has released the results of Alcohol Countermeasure Enforcement patrols in Whiteside and Winnebago County. The initiative, aimed at preventing impaired driving and illegal transportation or consumption of alcohol or drugs, led to several arrests and citations. Alcohol and drug impairment contributes to over 30 percent of all fatal motor vehicle accidents in Illinois. The project is funded by the Illinois Department of Transportation.

Captain Joseph Blanchette, Commander of Illinois State Police Troop 1, has announced the results of a recent Roadside Safety Check in Whiteside County. Officers issued a total of 19 citations and warnings for a variety of violations, with one instance of driving under the influence.

The results of Distracted Driving Enforcement patrols carried out in Ogle and Winnebago during March, resulted in 24 distracted driving citations, including 22 hand-held device citations. In total, 65 citations were issued and 20 written warnings were given. The enforcement patrols were funded by federal traffic safety funds.
