On 1/10/2023 at 3:53 pm LaSalle County Deputies investigated a two vehicle accident with no injuries on N 33rd RD @ RT 23. (Wallace TWP) Rebecca Muenchew (46) of Ottawa was at the stop sign of N 33rd RD @ RT 23 when the back end of her vehicle was struck by another vehicle behind her. Mackelle Prat (73) of Ottawa was stopped behind Rebecca’s vehicle on N 33rd RD @ RT 23. When Rebecca’s vehicle moved forward, he moved forward striking the back end of her vehicle.
On 1/13/2023 at 6:04 pm LaSalle County Deputies investigated a single vehicle accident with minor injuries on N 17th RD ¼ mile east of E 18th RD. (Otter Creek TWP) Austin Lopez (28) of Streator was driving east on N 17th RD when he lost control of his vehicle on the snow/ice covered roadway. His vehicle entered the north ditch and overturned multiple times. Austin was cited for failure to reduce speed/accident, operating uninsured motor vehicle and operating motor vehicle/suspended registration. He was released with a NTA.
On 1/15/2023 at 2:03 am LaSalle County Deputies investigated a single vehicle accident with minor injuries on N 27th RD 3 ½ miles east of RT 178. (Utica TWP) James Ewing (22) of Ottawa was driving east on N 27th RD negotiating a curve when he lost control of his vehicle. His vehicle entered the south ditch, overturning multiple times, striking trees and a utility pole. James walked away from the scene and was later found on the Starved Rock Yacht Club property where he caused criminal damage to property. He was cited for failure to reduce speed/accident, improper lane usage, operating uninsured motor vehicle, failure to report accident to police authority, leaving the scene of accident and arrested for DUI alcohol/criminal damage to property. James was later transported to LaSalle county Jail.
