Type of Incident TRAFFIC CRASH INVOLVING INJURY
At approximately 23:16 hrs on 12/09/23, dispatch received a call for a 2-vehicle, head on accident with multiple injuries on N.2975th Rd (Frontage Rd) just east of Hollerich Drive in Peru. Peru Police, Peru Fire, and Peru Volunteer Ambulance Service were dispatched to the scene. Two Life Flight Helicopters, LaSalle Fire/Ambulance and Spring Valley 10-33 Ambulance were dispatched as well.
During the investigation, Unit 1 driver said she was traveling eastbound on Frontage Road and a dog or coyote ran into the roadway. Unit 1 stated she went into the westbound lane to avoid the animal and collided with Unit 2 which was westbound. Unit 1 driver, an 18 year old female, was transported to OSF St. Paul Hospital in Mendota by LaSalle Fire/Ambulance. She was charged with improper lane usage and illegal transportation of alcohol by a driver. A passenger in Unit 1, an 18 year old female, was transported to OSF St. Claire in Princeton by Spring Valley 10-33 Ambulance. She was charged with unlawful consumption of alcohol by a minor and illegal transportation of alcohol by a passenger. Both were released on a notice to appear. Another passenger in Unit 1, an 18 year old female, was Life Flighted to OSF Peoria for her injuries. Additionally, a 19 year old male passenger in Unit 1 was Life Flighted to OSF Peoria for his injuries. The driver of Unit 2, a 25 year old male, was transported to OSF St. Paul in Mendota for his injuries.
