State Police Report for August

In a recent summary of August enforcement activities, Captain Joseph Blanchette of Illinois State Police Troop 1 reported a significant level of law enforcement actions. Over the month, Troop 1 issued a total of 1,023 citations and made 18 criminal arrests.

The focus areas included speeding, with 328 citations; distracted driving, where 33 drivers were cited; and occupant restraint violations, which led to 74 citations. Moreover, troopers responded to 97 traffic incidents, helped 257 motorists in distress, and conducted 651 commercial vehicle inspections, with 72 vehicles sidelined due to safety concerns.

Notably, there was only one fatal crash reported across the eight counties under Troop 1’s jurisdiction, despite the numerous arrests for driving under the influence, which totaled 27.
