The Sterling Police Department was notified of a domestic battery that occurred in the area of the 600 block of West 5th Street in Sterling. Alan Marshall, 48, allegedly involved in a domestic battery incident, barricaded himself in a room after fleeing police. The incident, which took place around 3:28 PM on a Wednesday, escalated as police noticed the room catching fire.
Officers managed to evacuate everyone from the building, including occupants of a separate apartment, before Marshall eventually emerged and was apprehended. He is now under hospital care with charges pending.
