Traffic Stop in Dixon Leads to 3 Charged

On Saturday, March 23rd at 10:38 p.m., an officer with the Dixon Police Department conducted a traffic stop in the 1800 block of South Galena Avenue on a white Nissan sedan for an equipment violation.

Through the Officer’s investigation during the traffic stop, Taylor K. Schwandt was placed under arrest for Driving on a Suspended Driver’s License. During a search of Schwandt’s person, methamphetamine was located.

After a probable cause search of the vehicle, additional controlled substances were located and two additional passengers were placed under arrest. At the conclusion of the investigation the following individuals were charged;

Taylor K. Schwandt (Driver), age 28 of Rockford, Illinois was charged with: Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine, a Class 3 Felony, Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance (Fentanyl), a Class 4 Felony, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a Class A Misdemeanor, Driving While Driver’s License Suspended, a Class A Misdemeanor.

Sarah L. Christensen (Passenger), age 39 of Rockford, Illinois was charged with: Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance (Fentanyl), a Class 4 Felony.

Krystal L. Nelson (Passenger), age 35 of Rockford, Illinois was charged with: Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance) Fentanyl), a Class 4 Felony, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a Class A Misdemeanor.

All charges are merely an allegation and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
