Mendota pulled off an upset win over the Kewanee Boilermakers on Friday night. In a game heard live on RegionalMediaNews.com WKEI, Mendota earned a 5 point victory over Kewanee 62 to 57. Kewanee fought the whole way with Brady Clark scoring a season high 31 points and Cottrelle Reed hitting three pointers that kept the game close late in the contest. Unfortunately, it wasn’t meant to be as Mendota’s terrific defensive effort staved off another late comeback to seal the win. The loss dropped Kewanee’s record to 13 and 7 on the season. Kewanee returns to action on Tuesday night against Princeton. Despite the loss, last Friday night’s game marked Salute to America Night and that celebration was a wonderful success with the Kewanee Band playing each of the military theme songs, special guests honored the men and women of our military, and a cake was shared by all in honor of Salute to America Night.
