    Very cold wind chills as low as 20 to 30 below.

    Portions of north central and northwest Illinois and east central and southeast Iowa.
    WHEN
    Until noon CST today.
    IMPACTS
    The dangerously cold wind chills could cause frostbite on exposed skin in 30 minutes or less. Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin is exposed to these temperatures.
    PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
    Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves. Keep pets indoors as much as possible. Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills inside.

Kewanee Boys and Girls Earn 2nd Place Finishes at Sherrard Invitational

Correction from Tim Atwell “The Varsity Triple Jump record Was held by Emma Crofton and she set that in 2023.”

Solid efforts for both Kewanee Boys and Girls Varsity Track as the teams earned second place overall finishes at the Sherrard Invitational. A standout at the event was Kewanee’s Danielle Jo Currier who earned a school record. From Kewanee High School “Danielle Jo Currier jumped 10.2 meters in the Triple Jump {33’05.5″ feet} breaking both the Varsity and FS School Records. The Varsity record has stood since 2019 and it was held by Molly Welgat who had jumped 32’09” and the FS record was held by Breanne Christiansen who had jumped 32’05”
