Coming off a loss to Dixon High Tuesday night the Kewanee Boilermakers traveled to Peoria to take on Quest Academy Gators in a non-conference matchup. Kewanee entered the contest at 3-2 and Quest coming off a loss also stand at 2-2.

The first quarter would see an up and down game with the Boilers holding a 20-17 lead. Quest used their speed to get the Boilers sped up and Kewanee showed they were up to the challenge. The Boilers were led by junior Brady Clark with 10 first quarter points.

Quarter two would be much of the same, Kewanee continued to handle the Gators full court pressure and used a team effort on defense to limit Quest’s looks at the hoop.

Clark again paced the Boilers with 8 second quarter points and was helped out by sophomore Catrelle Reed continued his improved play with 7 second quarter points. Kewanee would take a 39-28 lead into the break.

Kewanee opened the second half with a few quick baskets to push the lead near 20 points. Give Quest credit they did not back off the pressure. The Gators would cut the lead to around 15 mid way through the third but each time they would make a run the Boilers responded with attacking offense to push the lead to near 20 each time. The Boilers would carry a 57-38 lead into the final frame.

Kewanee would control the fourth with patience on offense and tough team defense throughout the quarter. The final score would end up 72-57 to improve their record to 4-2 on the season and will travel to Sterling Newman Tuesday night for a TRAC Conference matchup.

Kewanee had three players reach double figures led by Clark with 30 points, followed by Reed with 20, which was a new career high and Blaise Lewis with 10. Rounding out the scoring for the Boilers was junior Will Rumbold with 4 and 2 points each for James Campbell, Davontae Jordan, Jaiden Little and Camron Smith.
