The Kewanee Central 8th grade girls ended their season with a Sectional Runner-Up finish and have 5 athletes that qualified for the 3A IESA State Meet during the Orion Sectional. Kieryn Abernathy will continue in Shot Put, the 4×100 that includes Kolbie Cernovich, Kalei Rice, Jendayia Crowe, and Dani Jo Currier will make their second State appearance and hope to defend or better their Runner-Up State title, and this year Dani Jo Currier added the 100 meter, 200 meter, and Long Jump to her list of State performances. Abernathy is now the 8th grade record holder for Shot Put with a distance of 30’11”. And the 4×100 team holds the school record for both 7th and 8th grade, running a 54.50 as their PR this season. Dani Jo added her name to the record board for the 200 meter run with a time of 27.81 and Long Jump with a 15′ 9.5″ jump. These athletes have gone above and beyond regular practices and training to achieve their status. They have a lot to be proud of and greater things are yet to come!
