The Boilermakers are coming off a 22 win season and looking to get off to a quick to the new season. Kewanee brings back just one starter from last years team, junior Brady Clark, who will be looked for leadership early in the season.

Kewanee would begin the game struggling on the offensive end throughout the first quarter with the Panthers size causing difficult looks early in the game. Clark would lead the charge offensively with 6 first quarter points to keep the Boilermakers even at 8-8 at the end of one.

The second quarter did see both teams heat up on the offensive end. Kewanee once again was paced by Clark in the quarter with 9 points while junior Blaise Lewis chipped in with 4 in the quarter. The Boilers put together their best run of the game as they played well at both ends to close out the second quarter with a 10-4 run to take a 25-21 lead at the break.

To begin the third quarter Erie-Prophetstown used a quick 8-2 run to grab a 29-27 lead. Kewanee would use a balanced attack on the offensive end with five players scoring to extend their halftime lead to 6 points at the end of the third.

The fourth quarter would be a evenly contested quarter with the Boilers spreading the floor with a 47-42 lead and 2:45 left on the clock. Kewanee would burn off most of the remaining time to secure a 51-44 victory. Lewis would come in clutch in the final frame hitting two 3 pointers and going 2-3 from the line.

The Boilermakers were led in scoring by juniors Brady Clark with 20 points and Blaise Lewis with 15. Newcomer to the Boilermaker program junior Will Rumbold would chip in 6 points to go along with tremendous effort on the defensive end. To round out Kewanee’s scoring was sophomores Catrelle Reed and Davonte Jordan with 4 points a piece and senior Jaiden Little had 2.
