Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin Jr. is not expected to play in Sunday’s home game against the San Francisco 49ers because of a fibula injury, ESPN reported Friday.

Godwin, 29, has six catches for 52 yards over the past two games after missing the first three weeks of the season while recovering from a dislocated left ankle last season that required multiple surgeries. He has not practiced this week.

Tampa Bay (4-1) also is expected to be without fellow wideout Mike Evans for a third consecutive week because of a hamstring injury.

Rookie receiver Emeka Egbuka has stepped up with a team-best 25 receptions for 445 yards and five touchdowns over the first five games of his NFL career. The first-round pick’s receiving yards are fourth in the NFL and he is tied for second in touchdowns.

In nine seasons, all with the Bucs, Godwin has 585 receptions for 7,318 yards and 39 touchdowns over 113 games (86 starts). He was named to the Pro Bowl following the 2019 season.
