Detroit Lions running back David Montgomery is expected to play against the Minnesota Vikings on Thursday despite dealing with an illness, NFL Network reported.
Montgomery did not participate in practice on Tuesday and was limited during Wednesday’s session before being listed as questionable to play in the game.
Star Jahmyr Gibbs likely will handle the lion’s share of the workload in the backfield for Detroit (8-7), which is attempting to keep its playoff hopes alive against Minnesota (7-8) in Minneapolis.
Montgomery has rushed for 649 yards and eight touchdowns in 15 games this season.
Also on Thursday, the Lions announced left tackle Taylor Decker is dealing with an illness. He already was listed as questionable with a shoulder issue.
