Pat Elder, the Head Coach of the Ridgewood Spartans, is headed to the Hall of Fame. On Monday, January 16th, 2023, the Illinois High School Football Coaches Hall of Fame announced that Elder was one of several coaches to be honored from across the state of Illinois. WKEI RegionalMediaNews.com reached out to Ridgewood Superintendent Superintendent Tom Akers who said of Coach Elder

“Cambridge School District congratulates Coach Pat Elder on his induction into the Illinois High School Football Coaches Hall of Fame. In his first year as head coach of the Ridgewood Spartans, Coach Elder has demonstrated both his vast knowledge of the game, but more importantly his ability to build, mentor, and lead young players to become successful young people on the field and off. His knowledge of the game as well as his ability to understand his players strengths was pivotal in this year’s success for the Spartans. In witnessing Coach Elder’s laying of the foundation for a program leaves little doubt as to why he is being inducted. Congratulations Coach Elder!”

In a statement to RegionalMediaNews.com, Coach Elder himself stated that he is humbled by this honor…

“Being selected to the Illinois High School Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame is quite humbling and overwhelming. High school football has been a significant part of our family’s life. We have forged great friendships with other coaches, parents, and players which is what makes the game so special. I am greatly appreciative to receive this honor.”

Coach Elder recently took over the 8 man Football team at Ridgewood just a year ago.
