Sterling Newman Tops Kewanee in Boys Basketball

The Kewanee Boilermakers came up short against Sterling Newman on Tuesday night in Sterling. Despite a 16 point onslaught from the Boilers’ Blaise Lewis in the third quarter, part of a career high 21 point night for Lewis, Sterling Newman held off Kewanee, 66 to 59.  Sterling Newman’s Lucas Simpson was a key to victory down stretch with a couple important baskets late, part of his team leading 21 point night. Sterling’s Nolan Britt added 18 and his teammate, Ayden Batten had 15. Kewanee’s leading scorer Brady Clark was held to 14 points on the night. Kewanee drops to 4 and 3 on the season. They are off until Saturday when they travel to Macomb.
