When he’s not busy as our Kewanee Police Chief, Nick Welgat is laser focused on his favorite pasttime, Baseball. This is the time of the year when the Chief really gets to indulge his passion for the game as the Tournament Director for the annual Nolan Keane Baseball Tournament in Kewanee. 69 teams, more than 700 players, and their families, are coming to Kewanee on Friday, June 16th, Saturday June17th, and Sunday June 18th for a baseball tournament. We talked with Kewanee Police Chief and Nolan Keane Tournament Director Nick Welgat about what goes into organizing Nolan Keane and why it remain so special to him 9 years after the tournament’s inception.
