QUITO (Reuters) – Ecuador’s President Daniel Noboa emerged as his political movement’s candidate for the country’s February 2025 presidential election following primary voting on Friday, as he looks to further deliver on his government’s security pledges.
Noboa was elected in 2023 to serve a shortened 18-month term after his predecessor, Guillermo Lasso, called early elections to escape impeachment. Whoever wins the election next Feb. 9 will serve a four year term.
