MOSCOW (Reuters) – The Kremlin said on Wednesday there were “many nuances” around talks on finding a way to end the conflict in Ukraine and that the positions of different sides involved in the talks had yet to be narrowed.
The Kremlin made its comments after talks between the U.S., Ukraine and European officials to discuss ending the fighting in Ukraine faltered on Wednesday as U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio abruptly cancelled his trip to London and negotiations were downgraded.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Russia was continuing dialogue on a possible settlement with the U.S., but was not in contact with Europe or Ukraine.
Russian President Vladimir Putin remained open to talks with all parties, Peskov added.
Peskov said Moscow welcomed U.S. mediation efforts.
