The City of Kewanee has resumed paid brush pickup, but cleanup from the July tornadoes and Derecho is still on hold, waiting for word on funds through the Henry County Office of Emergency Management. You may purchase brush stickers at Kewanee City Hall and get added to the pickup schedule. The cost of this service depends on the size of the brush pile. If you need assistance calculating the cost, you can call City Hall, and a city employee will come out and determine what the cost would be.
According to the release by the City of Kewanee, “The City is still working with the Henry County Office of Emergency Management to secure assistance from the State of Illinois to aid in clean up from the tornadoes. This assistance is critical for the City to be able to clean up the debris from the storm. We cannot guarantee a timeline on this or even if it will happen.”
In the meantime, the best way to have storm debris removed is to either pay the city to remove the debris pile or have someone haul the brush to the Pleasant View Cemetery off Fisher Ave.
