The Illinois State Police (ISP) recently celebrated the graduation of 35 new troopers from Cadet Class 148, and two of the new troopers are going to our Troop 2 Region of LaSalle/Moline. The ceremony took place at the ISP Academy in Springfield, with these new officers set to enhance law enforcement across various regions starting October 13, 2024. The rigorous training they completed spanned 28 weeks, covering a wide range of topics from Cultural Diversity to Critical Incident Response. Governor JB Pritzker expressed gratitude for their dedication, emphasizing the reinforcement of safety and service since 2019 under his leadership. These troopers are now transitioning into a 14-week field training program and will serve in Troops across Illinois, earning approximately $90,000 upon academy completion. Details for those interested in pursuing a career with the ISP are available at the Illinois State Police Merit Board website at www.illinoistrooper.com. The application deadline for the next cadet class is November 1, 2024.

“On behalf of the State of Illinois, I would like to congratulate Cadet Class 148 on their graduation from the Illinois State Police Academy,” said Governor JB Pritzker.  “Since I took office, my administration has welcomed 565 new troopers, including the 35 brave men and women who now begin the next chapter of their career in law enforcement. Today, we honor the commitment they’ve made to the people of Illinois and are deeply grateful for their service.”

“Today these men and women join the ISP family,” said ISP Director Brendan F. Kelly. “Reciting the ISP’s Oath of an Officer for the first time in their full uniform is a proud moment for every trooper, and a moving experience for those of us lucky enough to witness it. They have taken the next step towards serving their communities with integrity, service, and pride and I am excited to see the impact they will make.”
