Congressman Eric Sorensen recently visited Rock Island High School to engage with students in a discussion about political involvement and the power of voting. Addressing Isaiah Tubbs’ government class, Sorensen, who transitioned from meteorology to politics, shared insights into his congressional duties and tackled student queries on various key issues. Highlighting the importance of early civic engagement, Sorensen emphasized, “Investing in the youth today can lead to safer, healthier communities in the future.” The session aimed to inspire students to actively participate in their communities and understand the impactful role they play in democracy.
“One of the greatest honors I have as a representative is talking with young people about making their voices heard,” said Sorensen. “Speaking with Rock Island students today shows just how important it is to invest in their futures now so they can help make our communities safer and healthier for decades to come.”
