Whiteside County law enforcement officials successfully captured fugitive Johnathon P. Parker. Starting with a foot chase on Friday, November 1st, Parker eluded capture by swimming across the Rock River. Despite deploying drones, police K9s, and boats, initial efforts to apprehend him yielded no results. The search culminated on November 2nd after an anonymous tip led deputies to a trailer in Riverdale Road.
After a tense 10-hour standoff involving negotiations and the Illinois State Police SWAT team, Parker surrendered without incident. He is now detained at Whiteside County Jail, facing charges of aggravated discharge of a firearm. The successful arrest was made possible by cooperation among multiple law enforcement agencies and tips from concerned citizens.
Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Sterling, Rock Falls, Morrison, Prophetstown Police Departments, the Illinois State Police, the Whiteside County State’s Attorney Office, and the Sterling, Rock Falls Fire Departments, as well as the CGH Ambulance Service.
All subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
