The Highway Construction Careers Training Program (HCCTP) at Black Hawk College has celebrated another successful group of graduates. This fall, twelve students completed the rigorous 450-hour program designed to prepare participants for careers in construction and boost the representation of minorities, women, and disadvantaged individuals in IDOT projects. Notably, Daniel Cobos and Heather Sim achieved perfect attendance throughout the 13-week course. The program, which offers training at no cost, has seen impressive results with a 78% apprenticeship placement rate among recent graduates, including Michael Findley, who joined Painters Local #1178. The Black Hawk College program has among the highest placement ratings of the 14 HCCTP programs in Illinois. The next HCCTP session is set to begin on February 24, 2025, with several orientation sessions planned prior. For more information, call 309-796-5729 or visit www.bhc.edu/hcctp.
