The Henry County Sheriff’s Office wrapped up a focused traffic safety campaign, marking significant enforcement actions aimed at promoting road safety. From November 22nd to December 2nd, in partnership with Illinois law enforcement agencies, officials implemented the “Click It or Ticket” and “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” initiatives. The campaign led to 7 speeding and 12 seat belt violations, alongside 4 DUI arrests among other citations. Funded by the Illinois Department of Transportation, these efforts align with ongoing statewide campaigns to ensure safety on the roads, emphasizing the mandatory nature of seat belt usage and sober driving. Sheriff Verscheure highlighted the campaign’s effectiveness in ensuring a safer community.
During the campaign, the Henry County Sheriff’s Office reported the following enforcement outcomes:
• 7 speeding citations.
• 12 occupant restraint citations.
• 1 electronic device use citation.
• 4 DUI arrests.
• 26 other traffic citations.
• 6 traffic arrests.
“We issue tickets to remind drivers and passengers that seat belt use isn’t a suggestion, it’s the law,” said Sheriff Verscheure. “This year’s campaign was successful in grabbing people’s attention with highly visible enforcement methods. As always, our goal is a safe community with safe drivers.”
