LaSalle County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with the Illinois Department of Transportation and other agencies, conducted the ‘Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over’ campaign from December 13 through January 2. The initiative resulted in four seat belt citations, 37 speeding tickets, five distracted driving citations, and 14 other traffic offenses, promoting safer roads during the holiday season.
The traffic campaign resulted in a safer holiday season with (4) citations for seat belts, (37) speeding, (5) distracted driving, and (14) other traffic offenses.
“We can’t stress it enough: Impaired driving is a deadly gamble,” said Sheriff Adam Diss. “It’s illegal, it’s irresponsible and it puts lives at risk – yours, your passengers’ and everyone else’s on the road. Campaigns like ‘Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over’ empower us to address this issue directly and send a clear message. If you’re under the influence of alcohol, cannabis or anything else, don’t drive.”
The enforcement initiative, administered by IDOT and funded by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, underscores the collective commitment to safer roadways, particularly during high-risk times like the holidays.
“This effort isn’t just about enforcement,” said Sheriff Adam Diss. “It’s about protecting lives and ensuring every celebration ends safely for everyone.”
