In a recent ceremony, State Representative Ryan Spain took the oath of office for another term in the Illinois House, marking the commencement of the 104th General Assembly. With a clear focus on addressing the state’s pressing issues, Spain expressed his commitment to advocating for sensible policies and maintaining fiscal responsibility. Known for his staunch opposition to gerrymandering and ethical violations, Spain has been a vocal critic of unnecessary tax increases and legislative pay raises, emphasizing the need for transparency and reform in government spending. His continued efforts aimed at boosting economic growth and enhancing healthcare and transportation sectors within his district, spanning nine diverse counties.

“I am honored to continue to serve the 73rd District in Springfield. Our state faces many challenges, and I look forward to continuing to fight for common-sense solutions,” said Spain.

“With our state’s ongoing fiscal issues, I have remained steadfast in holding the majority party accountable to spending,” continued Spain. “That includes opposing tax hikes and legislator pay raises: self-serving politicians looking to line their own pockets have no business doing the people’s work here in our statehouse, and I look forward to shining a light on what must change to better our finances.”

Representative Spain’s 73rd District contains portions of Bureau, Henry, Lee, Marshall, Peoria, Rock Island, Stark, Whiteside, and Woodford counties.

Spain graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a double degree in political science and speech communication and holds an MBA from Bradley University. He is employed at OSF Healthcare System as the Vice President of Economic Development. Spain and his wife Ashley have two school-aged daughters.
