Two Suspects Arrested in Knox County for ATM Burglary Ring in Illinois

Authorities have apprehended two suspects in connection with a series of ATM burglaries across Illinois and several other states. On February 20th, the Knox County Sheriff’s Office was alerted to a burglary involving a false key at an Abingdon ATM. The false key was used to open the ATM and “corrupt” the settings of the machine to withdraw large sums of currency. Surveillance footage and investigations led detectives to identify suspects Marol Maglui Aguiar Rodriguez (20) and Leandro Magdiel Bordones Villegas (26). The duo was captured on February 22nd in Havana in a coordinated effort involving multiple law enforcement agencies. They face charges ranging from burglary to theft. This is still an open investigation, with other potential suspects at large for similar criminal activity.

Rodriguez and Villegas are charged with Burglary to Building, Criminal Damage to Property $500 to $10,000 Conspiracy to Commit Criminal Damage to Property, and Theft $10,000-$100,000.

All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
