Kellie O’Connell has taken on the role of Regional Chief Executive Officer for the American Red Cross of Illinois, succeeding Celena Roldán Sarillo. Her appointment brings over two decades of expertise in nonprofit and governmental sectors, marking a strategic step forward for the organization. O’Connell is set to enhance community engagement and bolster equitable access to resources across the state. Her leadership style is anticipated to drive meaningful initiatives and partnerships, reflecting her commitment to the mission of the Red Cross. Community members and stakeholders are eager to see the impact of her innovative approach.

O’Connell holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Northern Illinois University and a master’s degree in Sociology from Loyola University Chicago. She graduated from the Harvard Business School’s Strategic Perspectives in Nonprofit Management Executive Education Program in 2019. Since 2020, she has been a Leadership Greater Chicago Fellow and is an active member of the Engagement Committee of the Economic Club of Chicago. O’Connell also serves on the executive committee of the board of Guitars Over Guns.
