On the horizon, several significant events are approaching at the Henry County Farm Bureau. Mark your calendars for the first aid class on March 5th at 6 PM. Following that, crucial health checks will be conducted by the Henry and Stark County Health Department on March 7th. Don’t forget, aspiring scholars—March 7th is the final date to apply for scholarships from the Farm Bureau Foundation. Also, women farmers are in for an enlightening experience at the Women in Ag Conference scheduled for March 28th at Bally’s QC, with over 200 participants already registered. Farm safety is taking the spotlight as Melissa Olson, MSN RN IL/PEL-CSN, prepares to conduct a farm-focused first aid and CPR session on March 5, 2025. This informative class will be held at the Henry County Farm Bureau office, designed specifically for those involved in agriculture environments. Participants will gain vital knowledge on handling emergencies unique to farm settings. While the course is educational and does not offer certification, it promises invaluable insights. Interested individuals are encouraged to reserve their spot by February 28th. This initiative underscores the importance of preparedness in potentially high-risk rural locations.

The Henry County Farm Bureau is hosting a First Aid and CPR training session on March 5th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. The class will cover hands-on CPR, wound care, and building a first aid kit tailored for farm life. The event is free and open to adults and children aged 10 and above. Henry County Farm Bureau members, mark your calendars! A special Health Check Clinic is set for Friday, March 7th, at the Henry County Farm Bureau on 128 N Prospect St. in Cambridge. Open to men and women aged 18 and older, the clinic offers a comprehensive General Health/Thyroid & Lipid Panel Blood Test for just $50, providing 45 detailed results, including a full cholesterol panel. For men aged 50-64, a $10 Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) test is available. Free blood pressure checks will also be offered. Appointments are required and will be booked on a first-come, first-served basis. Payment is cash only, with the Farm Bureau discount already included. In Henry County, students pursuing agricultural studies can secure financial assistance for their education through the Henry County Farm Bureau Foundation. This year, the Foundation is offering several scholarships, including the Wilbert and Carol Keppy Foundation Scholarship and the Glenn and Betty DeSmith Memorial Scholarship, each providing $5,000 to three students. Additionally, scholarships aimed at supporting trade and technical skills in agriculture are available, reflecting a commitment to fostering the next generation of agricultural professionals. Interested applicants must submit their forms by March 7, 2025.

Any student who qualifies under the guidelines may apply for either or all scholarships. Applications will be judged separately. Applications must be received by or postmarked to the Henry County Farm Bureau® office, 128 N. Prospect Street, Cambridge, by March 7, 2025.
