The Illinois Department of Transportation is organizing a community engagement session in Colona to discuss enhancements along Illinois 84. Set for March 18 at Scott Family Park, 5775 Poppy Garden Road, this event encourages public interaction and feedback between 1 and 6 PM. Attendees can learn about planned reconstruction from the Rock River to the north of U.S. 6, including new traffic signals at the Illinois 84 and Cleveland Road intersection. This initiative is part of the expansive Rebuild Illinois program, aiming to enhance infrastructure across the state.

Over the next six years, IDOT is planning to improve more than 3,000 miles of highway and nearly 10 million square feet of bridge deck as part of the Rebuild Illinois capital program, which is investing $33.2 billion into all modes of transportation. Accomplishments through Year Five of Rebuild Illinois include approximately $16 billion of improvements statewide on 6,541 miles of highway, 686 bridges, and 986 additional safety improvements.
