Residents in Kewanee are urged to stay vigilant tonight as city officials and emergency services gear up for potential severe weather. The Kewanee Police and Fire Departments, alongside the Henry County Office of Emergency Management, held a meeting to coordinate their response. They emphasize the importance of remaining indoors after the storm passes to allow crews to address hazards and assist those affected. Avoid unnecessary travel, as low visibility and downed power lines pose significant risks. If concerned about others’ well-being, opt for phone checks rather than in-person visits. Your cooperation helps ensure community safety. Stay informed and cautious. Below is a checklist from Amber Patch-Troxell Farmer’s Insurance agent to be severe weather ready.
“If severe weather does hit, please remain home after it clears. Crews will be out clearing roads and tending to those in need. We do not need roads congested with people checking out the damage. At night, it can be hard to see downed power lines which could cause injury if hit/touched. If possible, check on people by phone. We thank everyone for their cooperation.”
